Byron Eve Dermal Filler are injectable gels of concentrated hyaluronic acid – a complex sugar molecule that attracts and binds water molecules.
Hyaluronic acid is naturally present in the body, skin and connective tissue, however as we age; HA begins to break down.
Intrinsic factors such as loss of subcutaneous fat, change in the structure of bones, gravity and loss of elastin and collagen can result in deep lines, saggy skin and areas of hollowing over the face.
This combined with external factors such as sun damage and dynamic wrinkles can further cause changes in the once full and supple face.
Hyaluronic acid gels are used to replace the volume and structure in the face that has been lost due to this ageing process, to restore a more youthful appearance.
Dermal fillers can also be used to smooth, sculpt, enhance, and perfect existing facial features.
The duration of the effects of dermal filler varies depending on the individual, area treated and dosage used. Maintenance treatments are essential in keeping the aesthetic size & shape you desire. Although results from dermal fillers are immediate, the end result is not really evident until the filler ‘integrates’ into the tissues. It can take 2 – 4 weeks for swelling to settle and up to 6 weeks for the final result. There can also be asymmetries prior to this time (due to irregular swelling) Results can be expected to last between 6 – 18 months.
The dermal fillers used at House of Define contain a naturally occurring substance (Hyaluronic acid) which is found within our skin. These dermal fillers are biocompatible and as a result, present a lower risk of allergic reaction. However, with any medical procedure there are always risks involved and your Registered Nurse will discuss all risks and contraindications prior to performing any procedure. Side effects are generally rare, mild and short lived. You may experience bruising, swelling, tenderness & redness. A small number of people may experience prolonged redness & swelling.
Treatment with dermal fillers can involve some discomfort. In the treatment of certain areas, a prescription numbing cream or a block of the supplying nerve with local anaesthetic is performed. The majority of dermal filler contain numbing to make the treatment more comfortable. The area can be also be cooled with ice to minimise discomfort. This reduces the feeling in the area & also helps to reduce bruising.
Our clinic has multiple options for pain relief. Please speak with your cosmetic injector if you are concerned about pain management.
We recommend scheduling an appointment at least 4 weeks prior to an important event (e.g. wedding, travelling overseas) to allow any possible bruising & swelling to subside completely.
Dermal filler will not be administered on pregnant or breastfeeding women.
