Byron Eve PDO Thread: A Non-Invasive Solution for Skin Tightening

Byron Eve PDO Thread are made from Polydioxanone, a Biodegradable suture material placed under the skin that dissolves over time.

PDO Thread – The presence of PDO Thread stimulate the cells to produce collagen and elastin, in turn tightening the skin, improving sagging tissue and facial contours.

It is a less invasive procedure than a facelift and has much less downtime however it is not a replacement for a facelift.

Different types and lengths of threads can be used to achieve your desired result.

Long threads are used to lift and tighten while short or ‘Mono’ threads can be used to tighten and rejuvenate smaller areas of skin.

Threads are not generally used to replace volume so are often used in conjunction with fillers.

Threads require a consultation prior to the procedure to assess whether they are the best way to address your area of concern.

PDO Thread does not remain permanently in the skin and will be reabsorbed over about 4 to 8 months depending on the type of thread used.

PDO is broken down in the body ultimately ending up as water and carbon dioxide.

However once inserted into the skin, the activation collagen synthesis that they stimulate helps to maintain their results of gradually tightening, rejuvenating, volumising or supporting the skin and tissues.

How long does it last?

Results may be seen in 6 weeks and will continue to improve over 2-6 months.

The threads slowly dissolve, but their effects usually last up to 12 – 18 months.

With some threads, is recommended to have another treatment 6 months after the first to maintain the rejuvenating and tightening effects.

Does the procedure hurt?

A topical anaesthetic will be applied before the treatment.

Local anaesthetic can also be injected into the treatment area.

Most clients will only experience minimal discomfort during the treatment.

It is common to experience a firm feeling and some tenderness in the days following the procedure.

How long does the treatment take?

Treatment times vary depending on the area being treated.

Usually, it will take between 3-60-90 minutes.

Is there any downtime?

Downtime depends on the type and amount of threads used.

Bruising and swelling and some discomfort during facial movements are common side-effects.

This will usually subside within a few days.

We recommend scheduling an appointment at least 3 weeks prior to an important event (e.g. wedding, travelling overseas) to allow any possible bruising & swelling to subside completely.

Is the treatment safe?

PDO threads have been shown to be reliable and safe when used in medicine, however, with any medical procedure there are always risks involved and your Registered Nurse will discuss all risks and contraindications prior to performing any procedure.

While problems are rare, the most common issues come from the injection process rather than the threads and can include redness, swelling, itching, bruising, bleeding and skin infection.

Prior to treatment, a full consent process and review will ensure you are the right candidate for the procedure and alternatives may be explored.
